There are some great apps for saving money and budgeting. Many of which use these budgeting apps use AI to help you save money. It’s never been harder for most householders to save because inflation has been driving up the cost of living. Energy bills to food prices have been soaring.

AI budgeting apps make it easier to track your spending and find you savings on your bills. That’s because these AI money saving apps use little robots to search the internet and find you savings. Below are three of top AI budgeting apps available in the UK.

It can be tricky to track your spending across merchants, categories of spending and even your own multiple bank accounts. The good news is there are a range of budgeting apps that can track your spending across multiple accounts. This makes it much easier to response to pressures on our spending. That’s because you can create a budget that analyses all of your accounts.

Budgeting apps can give you a comprehensive overview of your finances so you a better aware of where your money is going. No more sneaky increases on your bills without you noticing. This means you can make informed decisions and even if you have an innovative bank account, you might need a way to connect them.

Can Tracking Your Spending Really Help?

You might ask yourself “are budgeting apps worth it”? Simply tracking a behaviour is enough to influence a behaviour. One study of 1,700 participants has shown that people who kept a food diary lost twice as much weight.

The finding can also be applied to money; if you track your spending you will likely save more. This is because great conscious awareness of your spending can result in behavioural changes. You can also visualise where and how you shop; which helps you to identify key areas of spending that you can cut.

The links for free money apps to help you track your spending are below. Keep reading for my reviews of these money management apps to find out which one might be best for you.

Are Money Management Apps Worth it?

When it comes to saving money who has time for pen and paper budgets. The truth is that we live in a fast paced world which makes the need for great apps for saving money and budget absolutely essential. We need apps that can automate our budgets, track our spending and give us strategic insights. The speed at which we spend can no longer be tracked by pen and paper. It requires technology!

Fortunately, there are some awesome Fintechs building great apps for saving money and budgeting. Which can track and neatly visualise your spending:

  • Across multiple accounts.

  • By category and retailer.

  • Spending by day, week, month and even year.

  • Review spending vs your budget.

My 3 favourite apps so far are as follows. They are all great apps for saving money and budgeting and are powered by some impressive technology.

#1 Emma Money Management App | “Get the help you deserve, all in one place, for free”

With Emma you can easily connect all your bank accounts, credit cards, savings & investments, cryptocurrencies and even pensions to track them in real time. You can get an overall view of your finances across accounts at any time without having to check all your other apps. Emma automatically tracks and categorises your expenses across accounts. Which allows you to get advanced insights into your spending behaviour.

Emma App Review: Why Emma Works For My Finances

Emma is the one of my most used apps. It’s easy to connect and see all your accounts and categorised transactions in one place. I am currently using Emma to track my personal and business accounts. Once you have connected accounts to Emma you can hide or show each individual account. As a result, I can switch certain ones off and isolate certain accounts I want to review.

One thing I like the look of with Emma is that they have a page where you can connect to your investment accounts. I connected my Wise account and my ‘investment jar’ automatically connected so it clearly works for some accounts. For those of you that are Crypto fans, it appears to work for cryptocurrency accounts such as Coinbase and Crypto-wallet for Bitcoin and Ethereum etc.

I’ve not seen a budgeting app in the UK successfully attempt to do this before. This would be a real unique selling point. However, this seems to be a ‘coming soon’ type page for most vendors such as Vanguard and Freetrade (get a free share with my link when you download the app).

Emma Money App Review: & Security Features

Emma is clearly an app that’s going to get better over time. So if you download Emma today, you’ll probably still be using it way into the future. You can visualise how your balance evolves over time, drill down to check your latest transactions for each account, and even create manual accounts for cash expenses or any providers we don’t cover yet.

Emma uses state-of-the-art security measures when handling your information. All connections between your device, our servers and your banks are protected using TLS 256-bit encryption. This sounds pretty technical but what it breaks down to is that when you download the Emma budgeting appyou get:

  • Bank-level security.

  • Read only access.

  • No login credentials stored.

  • There will be no changes to your accounts.

Emma Budgeting App

#2 Snoop Money App | “The App working 24/7 for you”

Snoop allows you to connect your bank accounts and credit cards and show all your info in one place. Snoop has this ambitious target of aiming to save the average household at least £1,500 over a year. I’m inclined to believe that they can do it too.

This is because Snoop is a clever little robot who keeps an eye on where your money is going on a regular basis. It then directs you where to switch and save. This means that you don’t have to constantly manually review your bills and search for who to switch to, it’s done for you. As we all know, our recurring household bills account for 80% of our spending each month. You tackle those and that’s easy money back in your pocket.

Snoop Budgeting App Review: Money Saving Features

Snoop has some awesome features you can access instantly when you download the app. Let’s break this down:

  • Spending Sorter: Snoop slices, dices and categorises all your spending, giving you an instant and in-depth understanding of what’s going where. We see this as the first step in helping you make some savings.
  • Payment Hub: The place to keep on top of all your bills and payments. See a full list for the month – paid and upcoming. Link any of your payments to a product (e.g. energy, mobile) so Snoop can find a better deal. Plus, add contract or renewal dates, and make it Snoop’s job to remind you when it’s time to shop around.
  • Discount Code Finder: Snoop shares money-saving Voucher Codes for the places you already spend money at – so if there’s a saving to be had, you can grab it.
  • Energy Checker: Snoop keeps a close eye on your energy bills – and warns you if they’re going up. Plus Snoop can help you switch supplier and save, all in the app. Some Snoopers tell us it’s saved them £600-700 a year. And it takes less than 5 mins.
  • Spending Summaries: Snoop sends you daily balance alerts plus weekly and monthly summaries so you’re always on top of all your connected accounts.
  • Money-saving Scanner: Snoop trawls the internet every day, spotting money-saving ideas. From cool new apps to handy little product features. Even sales at shops you regularly use and the latest offers at your supermarket. You’ll find it all in your Snoop feed each day.

Snoop Money Saving App Review: Why The Snoop App Is Great For Me

Whilst I use the Emma budgeting app for my saving and spending accounts. I’m also use the Snoop Money App for my joint account with my partner. That’s because our joint account is used for all of our household bills. As you’ve seen Snoop is great at the whole switch-and-save approach. Secondly, Snoop is a great tool for categorising and tracking our spending as a couple. Like the Emma App, it categorises all your spending so we can keep an eye out for anywhere we’re going a bit crazy with our spending.

The money-saving feature I most like about Snoop is the spending vs last month line graph. This is where you can track day by day accumulative how you’re tracking! Again, this is something I have never seen with a budgeting app before. This gives you a great starting point, for seeing when you’ve gone of course before diving into the detail of each of your spending categories to find the why. You’ll be super impressed with Snoop, so take 2 mins out of your day, download the app and start saving money.

#3 Cleo Money App | “A money app that doesn’t suck”

Cleo is an AI chat-bot that can help you with your finances. Enough said – go download the app. It is seriously impressive and unlike any other money app. You can ask Cloe things like “how much money have you spent at TK Maxx” and it’ll give you a line-by-line breakdown by month of your spending. More often than not you’ll simply open the app and Cleo will simply say “we need to have a discussion about your spending at TK Maxx. You can also do the simple stuff like set budgets, see your pay-check breakdown in an awesome coin based view of money in, money out, savings and due payments.

Cleo Budget App Review: An App With A Sense Of Fun

Cleo is definitely an app for those of you with a sense of humour. If you want to have a little more fun with your finances then this snarky app can help with that. However, please be warned Cleo does have a foul mouth, so if you don’t like swearing stay away. For those of you that don’t mind, you’ll enjoy the memes, gifs, jokes and features like ‘roast me’ when you ask Cleo to give you the breakdown of how you’re doing with spending and saving.

Cleo Budgeting - Great Apps For Saving Money

Personally, I’ve been using Cleo for all the little extra questions and useful insights that other apps probably can’t do. Like If I want to see all my spending for the past 12 months at TK Maxx, I can’t really do that on other budgeting apps. With Cleo it’s just a simple question. One better Cleo will also put it in a nice graph for you (with a trend line)! The Cloe app is easy to download and can be set up in just a couple of minutes.

These Are Great AI Apps For Saving Money And Budgeting

I’ve been super impressed when using Emma, Snoop and Cleo. Each budgeting app has it’s own unique selling points. This doesn’t mean you need to stop at downloading just one. They are all free to download on the Google Play Store. So why not download them and see what works for you.

Until I found these apps I was slacking-off withtracking my spending and seeing where my money has been going. Whilst I’ve previously used apps such as Money Dashboard I felt these apps have really taken things and step forward with extra features. The fact, we’re not integrating bots and AI with financial technology is incredible.

Financial Technology & AI Can Help You Save Money & Budget

Fintech is making it easy to automate our finances and gain strategic financial advantages. We need apps like this as merchants continue to sharpen their marketing teeth and find increasingly clever ways to extract money from us!
