I was sceptical about my ability to make money through blogging. In fact, at one point I set the arbitrary goal of earning £1 to even prove that it could be done! There are various methods of earning money blogging, however, these either require you to:
a. Convert traffic to buying a product.
b. Affiliate links such as Bluehost.
c. Advertisements.
Make Money With Advertisements
Let’s focus on the latter, you could try the 3 below options, but you need amazing traffic, or you’ll have to settle for a pittance.
Google Adsense: No minimums but you will earn about £0.05 per click.
Mediavine: Requires 25,000 sessions a month (usually around 30,000 page views)
Monumetric: 10,000 page views to apply.
Personal Side-Note
Before I continue, I just want to put it out there, that my goal from blogging is not to simply extract money from everyone who visits my site.
I actually enjoy connecting with people and sharing my ideas. I originally started blogging simply because I had a lot of unspent energy and information bubbling around in my brain, I wanted to do something productive with it.
However, I would like to be able to break even on the cost of the site and maybe even contribute towards my financial independence goal. The real goal would be to blog full time, but I think that’s more of a long-term goal! That’s why I have ads on my site.
How I Got Lucky And How You Can Too
I was lucky enough to come across a great company which has allowed me to not onlypush past my £1 goal or the $25 goal and $50 goals I later set. This is coming from someone who started blogging in March 2019.
My page tends to receive around 1k to 1.5k page views per month, according to google analytics, however, I am surprised to say that for many months I managed to earn between $12 and $18 USD.
How To Actually Make Money From Blogging
There is a company called Interactive Offers which can help. They are based in the USA, Florida to be specific. As I am blogging from outside the US and you are paid in USD, I received payment through a company called TransferWise which allows me to convert the USD into any currency at a low rate.
Interactive Offers is a startup company and a new player in the digital marketing world. I can genuinely see their site and user interface improving all the time now, with increasing frequency.
They use a cost-per-click (CPC) model, which has drawn in some financial advertisers and publishers that offer great rates, meaning that people like you and me can earn decent rates from putting ads on our sites. Interactive offers say their average CPC is $2 but my average CPC is currently $3.31 (last updated 07.12.19).
Are You In The Personal Finance Space?
Interactive Offers Is especially good news if you are blogging about personal finance and/or investing. The advertisers that Interactive Offers use are focused on showcasing their financially related products to a targeted audience.
If your finance-hungry audience wants to help fund your site, they can help you get paid with every click delivered, whilst checking out some relevant ads. As your traffic grows up to the 10,000 level (required even for Monumetric), you may find that with an average CPC of say $2, your earnings could be off the charts.
Real Life Projections
I just want to give you some projects based on my actual earnings. As an example, in October I had 1,000 page views and earned $12.27 from Interactive Offers. This is a conversion rate of 1.23%.
Scaling this up to 10,000 page views, you would be earning $123 a month with a conversion rate as low at 1.23%.
Page Views | Revenue ($) | Conversion Rate |
1000 | 12.27 | 1.23% |
2000 | 24.54 | 1.23% |
3000 | 36.81 | 1.23% |
4000 | 49.08 | 1.23% |
5000 | 61.35 | 1.23% |
6000 | 73.62 | 1.23% |
7000 | 85.89 | 1.23% |
8000 | 98.16 | 1.23% |
9000 | 110.43 | 1.23% |
10000 | 122.7 | 1.23% |
How To Sign Up And Start To Make Money Blogging
Visit InteractiveOffers.com and register as a publisher. Once the registration is complete, one of their account managers will contact you to familiarise yourself with the company and explain the process of picking up offers.
Test an offer in order to validate the traffic quality each publisher will bring. This step is crucial, as the company wants high quality leads that convert for their advertisers (you get to keep the earnings from the test, which is good too)
Following this you will gain full access to the platform and all of the offers available. The vetting of publishers is completed within a week of registering.
Once on the platform, the publisher will have several options in regards to the type of offer they wish to send. They currently have campaigns in the form of Dedicated Emails, SMS, Push, and Display ads. Each available offer will display the CPC you receive per click delivered, as well as the name of the offer, time remaining, link preview and remaining clicks. With dedicated email offers you can even schedule out clicks 2 weeks in advance!
To give you a live example, here is the type of ad that you can copy onto your site using an html code.
You can click through on this ad to see what’s on the other side but please remember I will earn a small amount from your click.
If for example, you didn’t like or agree with the ad displayed, you could block it from showing on your site via your interactive offers account.

Interesting, especially since my site has similar traffic volumes to yours. Is nice to know it could pay for itself if I wanted to but I kind of enjoy not having any ads or links and I don’t need the money at this stage of financial independence.
Hi Steveark, thanks for commenting. Part of the reason I wanted to write this post is because I thought other people might have similar traffic to me. So I’m glad you said that. It’s cool that you are financially independent! I guess with all things it’s about sustainability, so getting the blog to pay for itself is good. Yes I agree with you there, ads are not always the best way to go. What I like about interactive offers is that the ads are not too invasive like Google Adsense (atleast that’s what I hope anyway).
I’m at half of your monthly visitors yet but I kind of struggle to keep them on the page. I agree with Steveark that putting ads isn’t the way to go. Ok ok, I did put a Revolut ad but that’s because I’m really a big fan of it myself. The affiliate links and the cashback/bonus offers of the different P2P lending platforms hopefully will generate some income at some point for me. We will see.
Hi Mr Cheese, thanks for your comment, I appreciate your views on this. I do like the idea of promoting products, through affiliate programs. I think this is a good way to go and it’s something I want to work on going forward. Hopefully this will start generating some income for you too!
Thanks Julio, glad you enjoyed the article.
Wow, great article! Thanks for sharing! I was actually just contacted by Interactive Offers about putting ads in my e-mail to subscribers. I have been thinking about it because I already have Monumetric ads on my blog. Based on the page view projections you posted, they pay very well. I had over 18k page views last month and am over 10k already for this month, so it seems like it could lead to some decent income. Thanks again for the great overview! 🙂
Thanks for leaving a comment, glad you liked the article 🙂. Yes they do pay very well, especially considering there aren’t any minimum traffic requirements. Interestingly my projections have been quite accurate, as my traffic has grown. Wow, I imagine you could make some right revenue then! Hope to connect with you some more in the future.
Great info here, definitely something I will look into. I’ve just started dabbling with Adsense, and even though I make hardly anything it is still nice to know I’m making something on higher volume days. I’ve tried to keep it to one sidebar ad and hope that it doesn’t appear too invasive. Surely I could make more money if I cluttered the page with more ads, but not enough for it to be worth turning people off from viewing the site at all.
Hi Impersonal Finances, thanks for leaving a comment. Definitely agree with you, reader experience is the first priority. Cluttering up my page with ads is really something I’m trying to avoid too. I feel like interactive offers gives you a little more control over that than AdSense. One thing that makes me feel a little better about having ads, is to leave a note with the add. To let people know ads help pay for the site and thanking them for their support.
